We do these things not because they are easy, but because we thought they would be" – the modern age of API attacks & how to protect against them
Description
Organizations today are operating in the modern age of Application Programming Interfaces (API), that today is becoming the core element in applications, networking, Cloud infrastructure, and devices usage in our daily lives. With the conveyance of the API there is the problem that they in many cases become an overseen risk for an organization when it comes to the potential and availability of being attacked. API based attacks is one of the fastest growing attack vectors with already a long victim list counting some of the largest global companies, crypto exchanges and Cloud hosting providers. Are your companies using APIs today? The answer would be yes, we all do. One of the major challenges with APIs are like with other technologies that they don’t age well and requires protection in production or a code update with Security as a priority. In this talk Fortinet will provide an overview on how malicious threat actors use the API as an attack vector and how they are used practical with real world examples. We will also present technics on building more Secure APIs and how to protect their use once they are operating in production.
