KEYNOTE | Espionage, sabotage, disruption and ransomware: Dissecting cyber incidents to shed light on threats
Description

The number and complexity of cyber incidents are on the rise, while attackers are discovering increasingly effective ways to evade detection. However, analysing and responding to cyber attacks is no longer solely determined by technical factors. For instance, attribution poses a political and legal challenge.

The European Repository of Cyber Incidents (EuRepoC) records publicly known cyber incidents and classifies them according to interdisciplinary categories to create a comparable database of cyber espionage, sabotage, disruption and ransomware incidents in the EU and worldwide. The aim is to provide political decision-makers, industry and civil society players with a clearer picture of the threat landscape. This will enable them to make more informed decisions regarding prevention and protection.

The presentation will introduce the repository, its methodology, and key patterns, trends, and dynamics of cyber conflict conduct.
