It was great to meet our ANZ customers and partners at the DigiCert Trust Summit in Melbourne this week. We are proud to serve over 70% of organizations listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. A hot discussion topic was Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and the need for crypto agility. Just this week the Australian government announced a bold $1B investment to build a utility-scale quantum computer. Check out my interview on Bloomberg on implications and what progressive organizations are doing prepare for PQC. Special thanks to Geoff Lamb (ANZ), Renier V. (Export Finance Australia), Stephen Read (Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA)) and Mansour Ganji (One New Zealand) for joining me on stage to share their Digital Trust journey. https://lnkd.in/gj_p8T4K

The pandemic taught us that much of what we thought had to happen in person could be done online, but there’s one important task that many people still aren’t comfortable completing from a computer: voting. In any democracy, the ideal voting method needs to hit three key targets: * Fraud prevention: Ensuring every vote is legitimate. * Privacy: Protecting voters' choices from prying eyes. * Cost-effectiveness: Making elections affordable for everyone. From paper ballots to voting machines to mail-in ballots, our latest article looks at the various voting methods in use today to examine which are the most—and least—secure, and how technologies like AI could transform the election landscape. #electionsecurity #AI #digitaltrust #cybersecurity #voting

It was a big week for #quantum. If you haven’t heard, companies that work with the US government may be required to start protecting their data and technology from quantum computer attacks as soon as July. Forward-thinking companies have already begun the transition to #PQC. So, where should you start? “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. For PQC, that step is a deep and wide discovery of your cryptographic landscape.” - Avesta Hojjati, Ph.D., VP of Engineering/Head of R&D at DigiCert As organizations navigate the complexities of #quantumcomputing, we remain committed to providing guidance, resources, and solutions that pave the way for seamless and secure adaptation to post-quantum realities. Join the initiative to prepare for the quantum computing revolution and save the date for World #QuantumReadinessDay: https://lnkd.in/gDAf9uk8

Last week was undoubtedly “PQC Week,” with an abundance of news highlighting advancements in Post-Quantum Cryptography (#PQC). From Zoom's announcement of PQC KEM integration to the US Government urging federal contractors to enhance encryption once NIST finalizes standards for Dilithium (Module-Lattice-Based Digital Signature Standard - ML-DSA FIPS-204) and SPHINCS+ (Stateless Hash-Based Digital Signature Standard - SLH-DSA - FIPS-205), it’s clear that PQC is making headlines. Few Highlights: Enterprise Initiatives: Zoom has taken a significant step by incorporating PQC Key Encapsulation Mechanisms (KEM) into their products, demonstrating a commitment to future-proofing their security. Government Mandates: The US Government is pushing federal contractors to adopt stronger encryption protocols swiftly, in line with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)'s upcoming standards for FIPS-204 and FIPS-205. This underscores the critical need to transition to PQC. Emphasizing Crypto-Agility: While moving towards PQC is essential, the first step should be achieving #crypto-agility. Regardless of the strategy for adopting stronger encryption algorithms or regulatory requirements, it’s crucial to start with a comprehensive discovery and inventory of cryptographic assets. Discovery Solutions: Effective migration to PQC begins with a thorough discovery process. Identifying all cryptographic assets within an environment ensures a strategic and efficient transition, laying a solid foundation for implementing quantum-resistant algorithms. This essentially will act as the first Cryptography Bill of Materials (CBOM) for your organization. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. For PQC, that step is a deep and wide discovery of your cryptographic landscape. https://lnkd.in/gUjaP6rV

It’s good for snack food, essential for software. If software development were cheese-flavored crackers, a signed Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) would fill the role of the ingredient list, the country-of-origin declaration, and an official food-safety seal—a comprehensive, validated, tamper-proof inventory of all components that comprise the final piece of software. Bottom line: If you want software trust, you need a signed SBOM for every piece of software you create. Here are six reasons why: 1️⃣ Prevent tampering. Establish an unbroken chain of trust. 2️⃣ Meet regulations. Show off strong security policies. 3️⃣ Mitigate the risk of open-source components. Patch and update faster.  4️⃣ Provide full transparency. Make better decisions. 5️⃣ Streamline incident response. Minimize damage. 6️⃣ Encourage a strong security culture. Deliver better products. #SBOM #codesigning #digitaltrust #softwaretrust #softwaresecurity

DigiCert advises all software companies to sing your code to improve security across the organization. DevOps takes their work seriously. Sometimes management doesn't quite get it—or get it right. But if you think singing your code is ridiculous, you should try not signing it. Last we checked, a little harmony is better than a software supply chain attack 🎶 While the video is a throwback, the importance of code singing—and proofreading—has only increased since then.
