How can BankID ensure safe access to disability parking cards? Parking cards for people with disabilities in Norway have commonly been stolen and sold on the black market. WAYS were given the opportunity to create a digital solution, only accessible by the right individuals. Together with Mobilitypass and Criipto, Ways enabled digital access to cards through identity verification with Norwegian BankID. Why is it so easy to buy alcohol and nicotine products online without age verification? These types of products are commonly consumed by underage consumers in Denmark. In 2022: - 22% of girls and 27% of boys aged 15 consumed alcohol on a weekly basis - 18.2% of 15 to 17-year-olds regularly use nicotine products like vapes or nicotine pouches There's no secure age verification process for these products online. According to the law, the seller must require the customer to confirm they are above the legal age, but not to verify it. In reality, users are presented with a yes/no button as a simple confirmation that they are the correct age for purchasing - in effect, no valid confirmation at all. This enables Danish youths to easily buy alcohol and nicotine products without age checks. Implementing stricter age verification regulations and safer methods is essential for their protection. As a digital identity provider, we believe MitID is an efficient tool for age verification. It securely collects the ages of users, is already used by 4.96 million people, and has been suggested by several organizations and politicians as a potential solution. Do you know what verifiable credentials are? As you learn more about identity management and the wallet ecosystem, you’ll come across concepts related to verifiable credentials. In the physical world, credentials are already a part of our daily lives in the form of passports, driver's licenses, health insurance cards, university degrees, and so on. A credential becomes a verifiable credential once it's in a standardized digital format and can be verified cryptographically. Verifiable credentials follow the W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model. A verifiable credential can hold much the same data as a physical one, yet it's protected by cryptography to ensure integrity and prevent tampering. Have you enabled Secure Start for your Swedish users? Secure start (Säker start) is a technical requirement by Swedish BankID (Finansiell ID-Teknik - BankID) to help protect users and businesses from fraud. The user experience will see two major updates: 1. Autostart on the same device 2. Animated QR code on another device With Autostart, the user is automatically redirected to the BankID app on the same device. The process is started without middle steps that can be infiltrated by scammers. Animated QR code eliminates the possibility of starting BankID with your social security number on another device. Instead, the user scans a QR code which ensures that the user is physically present in front of the screen. All businesses that use BankID will have to update to the RP-API version 6 by May 1, 2024 in order to stay compliant.
