What does it take to build the internet? 👇 👀 Recently, GlobalConnect finalized the construction of its 2,600 km super fiber cable from Luleå to Berlin. It is the largest infrastructure project in the Nordics for decades - and there have been plenty of challenges to solve along the way.

GlobalConnect Launches Open Fiber Network in Finland 🌟 GlobalConnect has proudly announced the launch of its open network in Finland. The deployment of the open fiber network in Finland marks a significant milestone for GlobalConnect, empowering the company to offer a more diverse range of services to its customers. Having successfully operated with a true open network model in Sweden and Denmark, GlobalConnect is extending its open model offerings to the valued Finnish customers.    "We are delighted to provide our Finnish customers with the freedom to choose services that best cater to their needs. The increased competition in available services within our network will ensure competitive prices and offerings for our customers," said Helena Bergstrand, CEO of GlobalConnect Oy.   More operators are expected to join by the end of 2024, as GlobalConnect aims to provide its customers with a wider range of operator choices.    "We will continually welcome new service providers to GlobalConnect’s network. I transitioned to IT project management, focusing on system implementation projects before stepping into a business management role within B2B Sweden at GlobalConnect. Today, as the head of our portal experience at B2B, I lead a team of experts focusing on UX and creating customer-friendly portal solutions." 🔹 Q: How do you see the role of women evolving in the telecom industry, and what advice would you give to other women aspiring to leadership positions in this field? "From my perspective, I believe that passion and genuine interest are paramount; gender, age, race, and background are irrelevant when dedication and knowledge shine through. My advice to aspiring leaders is to invest in themselves through gaining experience and education to cultivate the qualities of a good leader that others feel safe following." 🔹 Q: In your opinion, what initiatives or changes can companies make to further support and empower women in telecom, especially in managerial roles like yours?
